“Everybody expected me to wear something new every time I went out, so who was I to disappoint them? And of course, when I visited Gianni I had to wear Versace, when I saw Tai and Rosita I had to wear Missoni, Courreges for Courreges and so on.
“I was stopped in Collins Street in 1971 and had my photograph taken for the Australian Women’s Weekly. I still have the boots. I also bought a pair in white, which I donated to the Museum of Fine Arts Boston who purchased two Missonis and a Versace from me. I’ve donated quite a few items to museums, both in Australia and abroad. And of course I donated me entire personal wardrobe, including my wedding trousseau, to the National Gallery of Victoria.” – Mary Lipshut, Founder of ML Vintage
